The Gujarati Natak Lage Raho Gujubhai is a non-profit organization. They aim to present all the devotional and cultural features of the Bhagavad Gita, running from March 2016-25 March 2020. This will be done through three different phases of their project: a) A five day theatrical performance by professional theater production company Vivaan Foundation, under a local aegis at a cultural center in Ahmedabad. b) A nine month long, online storytelling project with digital storytelling platform Gramedia titled 'Grain Stories'. c) A personalized daily reading plan for each participant based on the Bhagavad Gita's unique teachings as interpreted by this unique interpretation. The Gujarati Natak Lage Raho Gujubhai was started in 2009 by a group of Gujarati bilingual theater practitioners. They had been inspired by the work of Vivaan Foundation, a multi-lingual theater collective from Sri Lanka that had been running for eight years on a simple storefront space inside Ahmedabad's historic Girnar Arcade, and they followed their lead. Its team is a simple mix of individuals who work as dancers, architects, musicians, photographers and artists as well as theater practitioners. Gramedia had interviewed the Gujarati Natak Lage Raho Gujubhai's cast and crew about their latest production titled 'Bhagavadgita: The Song Celestial'. In this production, the audience was taken on a journey from life to death and back into life again. Hidden behind the story of two friends – Arjun and Karna – was that of every human being: the quest to awaken one’s conscience. It was performed in a unique style: in a way that has never been done before. To create this production, the company used art to tell the story of death and rebirth. The story takes place in the mythical Dwarka (present-day Krishna), during the war waged by two brothers to save their father, King Yudhishthira, from his cousins. The Gujarati Natak Lage Raho Gujubhai believes that being able to tell a story is more important than being able to do a good show. They therefore aim not only to produce great shows but also want to challenge viewers’ imagination and consciousness through its theatrical interpretation of Gita's teachings. The theatrical approach of the Gujarati Natak Lage Raho Gujubhai is to focus on the story and not the storyteller. The production is based on a cross section of people from different walks of life, who each received a copy of their book. The participants were then asked to share their experience through a blogpost or a video. As quoted by one participant "It’s been great fun to read this story with my family and friends, and watch them get involved in it." The result has been personal insights, blogging about their understanding of the Gita's teachings and sudden realizations regarding violence, sacrifice, friendship and self-sacrifice. 81eaaddfaf 42
